It is free to use Homer

You can use Homer free of charge. There are more advanced features and premium services in the app that cost money in order to gain access to them, but it is not required to purchase them. Examples of paid features are: the Homer Premium subscription, adding an additional home, or creating a floorplan using the floorplan generator.

You will always be able to add and access your information that you have added to Homer without having to pay. The information is yours and you can feel secure in the fact that you can access it when you need it.

How do I invite someone to my home in Homer?

Homer is even better if you share your home with your partner or the ones you live with!

  1. Tap on the Home icon in the top left corner of the Start screen. The Home Settings tab will appear.
  2. Under the Home Name, you will see who has access to the home. To invite someone, press the round "Invite to Home" button.
  3. Eter the name and email address of the person you want to invite. If they already have a Homer account, use the same email that they created the account with.
  4. They will have access to all the information in that home, just like you.
  5. The invited user will get an email, where they are encouraged to download Homer and create an account.
  6. For the invite to be matched with the invited user, the invited user must create (or have) a Homer account that uses that same email address.

How is my data protected?

Nothing is more important than keeping your data safe and secure - both from loss and  unauthorized access. Homer uses multiple levels of encryption, data management strategies and back-ups to ensure that you - and only you - can safely access your information.Homer will NEVER share any personal data with anyone, unless you explicitly ask us to.

Passwords

All information is password protected. Use a strong, unique password not used anywhere else. Homer does not save any passwords in clear text - we can only reset lost passwords, not retrieve them. Premium users can add AppLock on their device for an additional layer of security.

Encryption

All communication between you and Homer is encrypted. Your account information, passwords and access tokens are also encrypted - rendering any information useless without your password. We regularly renew tokens, secrets and our own routines for maximum security.

Back-ups x 3

We have hourly backups of all data. We back-up the back-ups as well, every day. And as an extra precaution, we have an additional back-up in a secondary location to ensure that we always have at least 2 separate back-ups readily available This makes Homer robust, safe and secure.

Can I have more than one home in Homer?

Yes, you can have more than home home in Homer, using the same account. You can easily switch between homes in seconds, making all your information about different homes available at your fingertips.

This is how you add a new home:

  1. Tap the "Account" icon in the top left corner of the Start screen.
  2. Under your name, you can see a button to "Add Home"
  3. Adding an additional home comes with a one time cost, of about 5$ / € or 59SEK.
  4. After successful payment, you can create your new home.

When you have more than one home, you can switch between the homes by tapping on the home name on the Start screen.

How Homer handles your personal information

Your information is never shared with a third party without your consent

To be completely clear - your information stays within Homer until you say otherwise. No 3rd party can see anything that is uploaded onto your Homer account, unless you have given your consent. We do not sell your personal identifiable data!

Similar to most digital companies, Homer uses other companies as Data sub-processors to be able to operate the service. This means that they are they are the tools used to deliver a service, and we have a contractual relationship with them. They are not allowed to use this data in for other purposes than to provide the service to Homer. Examples of our data sub-processors are:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Intercom customer support tools
  • Mailchimp emails
  • Google (Cloud, Firebase, Analytics)

Sometimes you want or need to share your information with others

There are lots of examples of times you would want to share your information in Homer:

  • You share your home with a partner/ family member/ other and want to give access to your home
  • You want to report an error, respond to an offer from Homer or one of our partners, or share your information in other ways with someone who may need to know your address, model number or series number etc. If this information is already stored in Homer it can be very practical to share it directly from Homer.
  • You want Homer to find more information about an appliance, machine or item. Then Homer need access to information on this particular item in order to know what brand and model to search for.

I have received targeted content in the app from a company in Homer - what information have they received?

As a way of earning money, we have a collaboration with leading brands within insurance, appliances and service providers. They want to show relevant and helpful content for you as a homeowner.

Your personal information is not shared with a third party in this case either. Homer can show specific information to users based on choices such as language, postal code, home type and brands - but that occurs internally and the third party organisations do NOT have access to your information.

Security

App Lock - adding an extra layer of protection to the Homer app

Enabling App Lock on your phone for Homer app is an excellent way to ensure added privacy and security. When App Lock is enabled, you'll need to use your fingerprint or facial recognition to open the app. You can set up various situations when you want the App lock to be activated. To use this feature, you'll need to set up biometrics such as fingerprint or facial recognition in your phone's settings.

To enable App Lock:

- in the Homer app,  tap the Account avatar in the top left corner of the Start page.

- From there, select Security and Access, then tap on App Lock.

- Choose when you want App Lock to be activated and click "Confirm."

To disable App Lock:

- in the Homer app,  tap the Account avatar in the top left corner of the Start page.

- From there, select Security and Access, then tap on App Lock.

- Deselect the situations when you want App Lock to be activated and click "Confirm" to disable the feature.

Please note that fingerprint lock is only available on Android devices with a fingerprint sensor running Android 6.0+ that support the Google fingerprint API, and facial recognition is only available on Android devices with a face scanner. Additionally, this feature isn't supported on some Samsung phones. The face and fingerprint authentication takes place entirely on your device, and Homer can't access the biometric information stored by your device's operating system.

How can I leave a home?

If you are sharing a home in Homer, and would like to "leave" the home, you can revoke your own access in the following way:

  1. Tap the Home icon in the top left corner of the Start screen to open your Home settings screen,
  2. Scroll down to the very bottom and select "Leave home"
  3. To ensure this is the desired outcome, you will be asked to enter the name of the home.
  4. Access will be revoked as soon as you confirm,

Delete your account / delete your home

If you want to delete your account or your home, you can do so in the app

How to:

2. Scroll down, at the bottom of the screen you will see a red button called Delete Account. Press the button.

3. To avoid deleting your home unintentionally, you will need to write the word "delete" in the window shown before pressing on Delete

4. Your account is now deleted.

If you had a home on that account, without anyone else having access to the same home, that home will also be deleted. If you share the home with someone else in Homer, the home will remain and ownership transferred to that remaining person.

How do I make a floorplan in Homer?

It is easy to make a floorplan of your home. The Homer floorplan generator can handle houses with more than one floor, and even outside spaces like your patio, porch or outdoor kitchen!

  1. Plan your route through your home, so that you can scan everything in one, single sweep.
  2. You don't need to remove furniture, just make sure to turn on the lights and open doors along the way.
  3. When scanning, make sure to film all the rooms and spaces.
  4. When capturing each room, try to capture where the walls meet the floor, as well as the bottom half of windows, to ensure everything is included in the floorplan.
  5. Don't scan too fast, but at a steady pace. Follow any on-screen instructions that may appear.
  6. After scanning all the rooms and spaces (including outside spaces like a porch, patio, or outdoor kitchen), you can review and pay.
  7. You can choose between an express (6-hour) or normal delivery option (24-hour). The resulting floorplan will be delivered in both PNG and PDF format, with proper labels, measurements, and fixed furniture and fittings properly depicted.

How can I leave a home?
